Expanding your London home does not only give you more space, but it also increases the value of your property. We at MB Master Builders have been providing our clients in London and Hertfordshire with various types of building services for over ten years. In this time, we have completed a number of bespoke house extensions, including rear, side return, wrap around and kitchen extensions. Our building company operates under fully insured conditions and with the accreditation of the Federation of Master Builders. Our partnership of experienced builders, award-winning architects and interior designers offers you a hassle-free approach to expanding your living space.
To begin with the project, we will do a free no obligation on-site assessment. A member of our design team will help you with the planning application and the layout of your project if needed. However, if you have already hired an architect, we can still complete the work while following your existing drawing plans and specifications. Within a couple of days after the initial assessment, we will provide you with a detailed estimate and schedule of works. One of our team members will discuss the evaluation with you, to make sure that you understand every item on the list and to avoid any possible future confusion.
If you decide to go ahead, our team of expert London builders will then get to work on your home extension as soon as possible, so your new bespoke living space is completed to the highest standards and within the set deadline. During the work, we strive to keep the site secure and as clean as possible to cause minimum disruption to your daily life. Upon completion, we will provide you with Gas and Electrics Certificates and other required documents, as well as a 15 years structural warranty. We are fully insured, so that you can rest assured that should anything ever go wrong, we will fix it free of charge.
Single storey extensions have been gaining popularity amongst homeowners in London, as they can visually connect the house with the garden when using sliding glass doors or panels. They come in three different types - rear extensions, side return extensions and wrap around house extensions (which are effectively a combination of both the rear and the side extensions). You could use your new space to accommodate a larger kitchen, stylish living room or even a home office.
A double storey extension is a cost-effective option, allowing you to double your space under the same roof (which tends to be the most expensive parts of the build). Two storey extensions are typically used to create an open plan kitchen, dining and sitting area with sliding or bi-fold glass doors allowing access to the garden on the lower half. The second half can become anything you like, such as a large family bathroom, additional bedroom, library/study or even a gym.
A clever way of using an existing building, such as a previous single storey kitchen extension or an attached garage, is to create a new extension on top of it. This type of home extension project is ideal if you want to add a large en-suite bedroom or a playroom for the children to your home. It can prove one of the most expensive types of extension though in the event the existing structure has single-skin brickwork (in which case more work would be required to strengthen it).

As well as the obvious advantages for you and your family of an extension, such as more space to co-habit in, it will also add light to the existing structure (thanks to all that glass), making it feel like a space you’ll all want to gravitate too. This can help make your home feel more communal. Financially, yes, an extension can be a lot of money to fork out, but you will undoubtedly get your money back when it comes time to sell and move on, since it will most certainly have added to the value of your home.
