Large rear house extension in Barnet - Case Study

Our clients wanted to add extra space to their traditional bungalow. We achieved this by adding a large rear house extension, which was designed by award-winning Alan Cox Associates. First, we removed the windows and carefully demolished the back wall. After we prepared the ground, our team started constructing the walls of the new expansion, leaving space for the sliding glass panels which allowed much more light to come in, brightening and warming up the living area. Finally, we plastered and painted the extension, as well as the rest of the house white for a clean finish.

The open-plan kitchen and dining area was completed in bright colours, making it a perfect place to entertain guests and family members. The grey floor tiles give contrast against the light coloured surfaces in the house. When viewed from the outside of the house, keeping the tiling inside the house similar to that of the patio area, it’s only the glass panels that separate the outdoors from the indoors. And, on sunny days, when the glass panels are slid open, the garden area becomes part of the open-plan living section, and vice versa. For our clients' comfort, we equipped the residence with a state of the art smart electronic system which operates all the doors, windows, light switches and TVs, making it a contemporary piece of art. We have also redesigned the vast garden to suit our clients' tase.
