We at MB Master Builders have recently completed this contemporary two-storey house extension in Hampstead, North London, which was designed by Stuart Less from https://leesarchitects.co.uk/. The client required a contemporary two-storey extension to their Victorian period home. The property sits on a steep slope, so we took advantage of this by creating a half basement with doors out into the garden.
Original features were retained in the extension - the bay was incorporated into the living room, instead of being demolished. Internal flemish bond brick feature wall along with vast expanses of glass was used to develop the contemporary aesthetic. Double height voids and roof lights were implemented to create vistas of both the external natural elements of the garden and the existing house features such as the chimney.
